Young Adults Getting Treatment for Mental Health Jumps
According to a CDC report, nearly 22% of adults received mental health treatment in 2021, up from 19% in 2019. Adults younger than 45 spurred this increase. Adults 18 to 44 were the least likely to get mental health care in 2019, but the most likely in 2021. In this age group, nearly one in four received treatment in 2021. (Source: CNN, D. Annual COVID shots
Federal health officials have called for annual COVID vaccinations, signaling that the virus is not going away. The newly authorized updated booster will be free, but future vaccines and treatments may not be. Global surveillance mechanisms will have to be in place to tailor the yearly immunizations. Jane Fonda Has Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma
Actress Jane Fonda, 84, announced on Instagram that she has non-Hodgkin lymphoma. She has started chemotherapy.
NHL starts in the lymphoid tissues, structures that support the immune system. About 2% of people will be diagnosed with NHL at some point in their lifetime. The 5-year survival rate is 74%. There are two prognostic groups: indolent and aggressive. Treatment includes chemotherapy, radiation, and targeted therapy to shut down signals from immune system cells.
