Seven factors account for most heart attacks

The majority of first-time heart attacks in younger adults can be related to seven risk factors.

  • Diabetes

  • Depression

  • High blood pressure

  • Family history of premature heart attack

  • Low household income

  • High cholesterol

The average age in the study of 2,200 people was 48 and just over ⅔ were women. More from MedPage Today.

Non-stimulant for ADHD

The FDA has approved Viloxazine, a non-stimulant drug for ADHD, for adults and children. This is the first in two decades. It had been approved for children last April. A randomized phase III trial showed the drug led to significant symptom improvement starting at two weeks of treatment compared to placebo. The medication has been prescribed in Europe as an antidepressant, a novel selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. Because it is not a stimulant, it is less addictive and less likely to be abused. More from The Hill and MedPage Today.

CDC: Wear Masks on Airplanes

The CDC has recommended masks on airplanes and trains and in airports. The agency says its decision is based on current COVID conditions and spread and the protective value of masks. Passengers now report that on some flights 10% or fewer travelers are wearing masks. More form Reuters.
