Hello, Doctor!

The media may approach you for an interview on a medical study.

Here is a question to ask yourself as you prepare to communicate information about the study:

Can I translate the findings into practical consumer advice?

Then ask yourself:

  • Have I considered what the affect of the study findings on the general public?

  • Will I translate the findings into everyday consumer advice?

  • Do any accompanying editorials help to put the findings into context?

  • How do the findings relate to the larger context of guidance, for example, from the FDA or CDC?

  • Will I provide credible national, state, and local resources where consumers can get more information?

In the next post in this series, I’ll go over some general guidelines about detailing the study’s funding. Stay tuned!
